Normatec Pneumatic Compression Therapy

Normatec Compression Therapy Systems offer profound healing results for patients suffering from lymphedema, venous insufficiency, and venous stasis ulceration.

Users include members of elite NCAA programs, the majority of NFL, NBA, and NHL teams; the US Navy Seals; and the US Olympic Committee. Now, Dr Ana Sierra de Aragon makes it available to patients and exercise enthusiasts that are looking for quicker muscle recovery, a decrease in muscle fatigue and stiffness. Rehabilitation clients notice a reduction in swelling, pain and an increased range of motion.

The NormaTec Via Series is a non-invasive, painless, pneumatic compression device that treats a variety of peripheral circulatory conditions. The devices utilize a patented compression technology, and multi-zoned garments which rhythmically inflate and deflate to carefully prescribed pressures, effectively mobilizing stagnant fluid in the limbs. Unlike other compression strategies, the Normatec Via Series delivers precisely calibrated and software-controlled treatment for conditions such as:

  • chronic wounds or ulcers
  • venous insufficiency
  • lymphedema
  • prevention of DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis)

The NormaTec Via Series uses a dynamic compression pattern to disengorge tissue and improve circulation. Three critical concepts, borrowed from normal physiology, all contribute to the effectiveness:

  • Pulsing compression simulates the “muscle pump” of the limb
  • Gradient directionality of flow occurring in the venous and lymphatic one-way valves
  • Effective movement of fluids as seen in peristalsis

Pneumatic medicine is the use of non-invasive, painless, dynamic pneumatic compression to treat venous insufficiency, non-healing wounds and chronic dermal disruption-type ulceration, lymphedema, or other peripheral vascular disorders. The core component of pneumatic medicine is the NormaTec Pulse Technology inflation-deflation pattern, which is a major technological improvement that goes well beyond simple intermittent compression.

The NormaTec Compression Therapy systems use patented NormaTec Pulse Technology to rapidly and effectively reduce edema and improve circulation in patients suffering from a wide variety of vascular conditions. The NormaTec is the most advanced pneumatic compression device available for the treatment of lymphedema, venous insufficiency, non-healing wounds, and other edematous conditions. It works by replicating the body’s natural circulatory sysem, allowing patients to get back to normal faster.
